Barbara West makes her home on the Monterey Peninsula and much of her art captures the essence of local areas such as Carmel, Carmel Valley, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Big Sur as well as localities around the Monterey Bay. Barbara also captivates sailing scenes in and around the Santa Cruz Harbor where she sails out of regularly.
Barbara has studied art at the University of Pittsburgh, Rhode Island School of Design, the De Cordova Museum School, the Boston Art Museum School and the Danforth Museum School. She has participated in workshops and studied with numerous artists including Brian Blood, Wolf Kahn, Gregory Kondos and Sam Savitt.
